Digi-Pak , lip sync tutorial & evaluation.

Final Creation
Overview using FCP and Photoshop to create a music video and album cover.

Before we started to edit / film our own music video we were given a tutorial on how to use Final Cut Pro (FCP) when editing a music video. We were first taught how to use markers and where to place them. A marker was placed on the audio track at a certain point in the song, and then was dragged down onto the time line. We then had to watch the clips and put another marker on them at the same point and drag them onto the time line. This meant that the audio and video matched up and synced perfectly. After putting down all the clips from all the different angles we were then taught how to use the razor tool to cut between shots, making the final product look more professional. Using this tool was pretty simple as it just involved cutting on the beat.

The hardest point in this tutorial was getting the markers on the exact same points on all of the clips to match the audio, nine times out of 10 the markers had to be re-adjusted to make them sync perfectly and create a professional looking video.

After this tutorial we went out and filmed our own clips for the video, which we later came back to edit. There were many difficulties in this process. Just like in the tutorial it was hard to sync the audio and the video together, even with the markers, but in the end the final product was properly synced. As we filmed the whole track through, a base track, it was easier to edit. They were placed straight on the timeline and were perfectly matched to the audio. I think that the final edit of the music video came out nearly perfect, but could be changed in a few ways, such as having more different angles.

We then were given another tutorial, but this time it was for Photoshop. In this tutorial we were taught many things. The first was how to get the correct size for the digipak - which involved entering the numbers. We then were shown how to add in a spine - both tasks were simple.

The images on my digipak were photographs taken from the video shoot and show the artists involved in the group. The front image was chosen for that reason. It was simple to add the image as it involved clicking open and choosing the file and placing it on the background. The tools that were used in creating this digipak were - the text tool (to add any text to the cover) the adjust cover tool (used to change up the colour) and another example of a tool used was the rectangle tool, used to create the spine.

Overall I am very pleased with the outcome of the digipak and lip sync videos, more so with the cover as I created it myself. If I was to do anything different next time I would take more photos to choose from fro the digi pak and maybe do more base tracks just to cover us incase of any editing disasters.
